Annie Brown
You will find Annie in her cosy Studio surrounded by her wool supplies.
Originally from the Kent Coast, Annie relocated in 2003, to the edge of the Cambridgeshire Fens, where she took a Postgraduate in teaching through the University of Cambridge.
Whilst researching therapeutic activities for Cambridge Women’s Aid, Annie taught herself to needle felt, developing her own blending techniques, along with the use of unconventional materials. After an inspirational visit to Woolfest, Cumbria, hand-dyeing the wool became part of her practice. With her husband who is a stockman, Annie started a wool only flock of rare breed sheep, giving her a constant supply of different textures and natural colours.
Annie has always been inspired by the landscape and the nature within it, its transience, and the beauty of its imperfections. Through this, she provides her audience with a moment of stillness and tranquillity.
Regularly exhibiting her work since 1991, Annie has sold her work internationally.

Paul’s painting came from an original interest in photography and visiting galleries, having bought a palette knife (in honour of American Artist Nancy Kominsky) he set forth on a new hobby, and over the next 25 years has developed his own distinctive style in the process.
After moving to Cambridgeshire and plucking up the courage to join Cambridge Open Studios in 2008, this is now the mainstay and driver for his work. Using vivid colours and oil paint laid on thickly with a palette knife, his work tries to capture a usually cheerful sense of time and place through strong photographic style compositions, texture and colour.
He’s delighted to join the other artists and community at Haddenham, with his studio set up to display completed paintings, create new work and make frames for both himself and others. Visitors are welcome to drop in on Saturdays, an email to confirm or to arrange other times would be welcome.
