Volunteering

Join us as a Volunteer

Volunteers make a massive difference to the opportunities and experiences we can offer the community, here at Haddenham Arts Centre. Whilst volunteering your time and skills, you will gain work experience, learn new skills, meet new people and make a difference to the community.

Haddenham Arts Centre CIC is a ‘not for profit’ organisation which endeavours to offer a venue and opportunities to encourage the local community to engage and partake in the Arts. In doing so we aim to help individuals develop artistic talent, explore their creativity, and boost self-esteem, in a fun, friendly and non-judgemental environment.

The Arts Centre is run by a dedicated team who believe in the life enhancing benefits of engaging in the Arts. They organise regular exhibitions, run the gallery shop and cafe, workshops, musical and theatrical events, talks and Open Days. As a Volunteer you will become one of the team, helping to make lives better.

The volunteering opportunities are numerous: -

Data Input and Administration

Assisting in the Café

Cleaning and dusting

Front of house at events, films and performances

Promotion and social media posts

Gardening - we’re looking to create a wildlife area / bat boxes on our top field

DIY jobs and painting…These are just a few!

Whatever your reasons for wanting to Volunteer, we will welcome your time, talents, and support. Training will be given, where required and a staff member will always be on hand to help and guide you. Please contact us on 01353 749188 or pop in an speak to a member of staff.

Meet a few of our Volunteers.

Verity has been volunteering with us for several years now. She helps to keep gallery displays clean and tidy. On occasion she has wielded a paint brush to freshen up an exhibition wall or a piece of furniture. And now she is trained to work the till, her bright and cheerful manner makes customers feel welcome.

Phil has recently joined us to help with DIY. We have a long list of  items to mend and things to fix, which he is expertly tackling, much to our delight.

Dee was our first volunteer, joining after moving here from Devon. She joined to ‘get out the house’ and meet people and is still helping in the Gallery. Having successfully passed her training course she also runs the popular monthly  Good Mood Café meetings sponsored by Mind.

Cathy wanted to experience what’s involved in running a gallery after starting a HNC course in Art Practise. She has put her IT skills to good use while helping us with admin work.

Experiencing the working day in a gallery isn’t the only benefit for Cathy. She enjoys making a difference to the community and says, ‘Everybody is really nice here’.

Alban came to volunteer with us as part of his Duke of Edinburgh award. The Arts Centre has benefitted from the youthful energy and enthusiasm of several students through the scheme. Infact we benefitted so much he is now employed part time!

The Arts Centre is recruiting Constitutional Members to the Haddenham Arts Centre

Membership is an opportunity to help the Directors in the successful governance and general performance of the Arts Centre. As a member you will bring your business attributes and contacts to strength the current team. Artistic talent is not a requisite, neither is any previous experience of working in an Arts Centre, but we are keen to acquire members with experience of working in marketing, recruitment, the retail sector, law and finance, hospitality, human resources and the local community.

Your commitment will be to help HAC fulfil its objectives by regular contribution of your time and talents. Your reward? The satisfaction of helping the community as part of a diverse, fun-loving team, whilst meeting new challenges and acquiring new skills.

If you would like to become a Constitutional Member, please contact us on 01353 749188 or arts@haddenhamartscentre.org.uk to find out more about the role and for an application form.
