Group size is limited to just 7 so everyone will get a chance to use the potters wheel.
Spend the day learning basic pottery skills using the natural world as inspiration for shapes and decoration. Throwing pots on the wheel is the technique of shaping round ceramics using a potter’s wheel, shaping the pot as the wheel turns. The clay rotates so you can mould it into the desired shape with your hands. You will be able to turn the bases once the clay has firmed up to refine the shape. Coiling is an ancient method of hand building by rolling long coils of clay and placing one on top of another to form different shapes. Slab building involves rolling out clay to an even thickness then cutting shapes, folding, bending, manipulating, and joining together to create the finished form.
