A full day workshop with talented tutor Judith Handley. Expect a relaxed, friendly, supportive, experimental, and fun experience where you will learn a new (or revive a previous) skill and take home something you feel proud enough to frame, give as a gift or decorate your house and tree with ! The course will cover all the basics of using the cutting tools and how to simplify imagery for those new to lino printing.
We will start by preparing an image/drawing ready to be transferred onto lino. You will be guided, step by step, through how to use the cutting tools and apply your inks effectively to achieve a clear and successful print. There will be a range of coloured papers available to print onto which will extend the opportunities for colour combinations.
The prints will still be ‘tacky’ at going home time so you will need to consider how you could transport them home – spread out in the back of the car would work.
If you have a particular theme or image you would like to work from, please bring it along – your own drawings, photographs or magazine cuttings are all good source materials – but don’t worry if you haven’t got anything – there will be imagery to choose from on the day. The largest size of lino is A4 with options to work to any dimensions down from this. Please bring any imagery you would like to use in an appropriate size if possible.
Please wear clothes that you don’t mind getting messy and/or an apron.
All materials and equipment will be provided.
