WORKSHOP: Clay. Coiled Vessel & Botanical Vases with Louise Taggart from Blended Monkey

  • Haddenham Arts Centre 20 High Street Haddenham, cb6 3xa England (map)

Join Louise for a day creating a coiled vessel & botanical vases using the slab & sprig method. Places are limited so book early to avoid disappointment.

 Saturday 10 February 10.30 am – 4.00 pm

£80 including tea/coffee & croissant on arrival – email enquiries@blendedmonkey.co.uk or call 01945 772811 or visit the Blended Monkey website to book.

Price also includes the biscuit firing of each piece, subsequent glazing in colours of your choice and final glaze firing – work will be delivered back to the Haddenham Arts Centre for collection

You will learn how to create a large coiled vessel in a design of your choosing and also two large botanical vases using the slab method – you can bring along your own botanicals (grasses, flowers etc.) from your gardens or surroundings if you wish, but Louise will ensure that she has enough for everyone in any case.

The large coiled vessel will be created using various hand building methods. The botanical vases use rolled slabs which are cut to size, botanicals pressed in and then vases created using a former. The pieces can be simple or elaborate. Louise will show how “sprigs” can be attached to the finished vases to create extra 3D effects if required.

The whole procedure will be explained from start to finish by Louise and also with the aid of real-time footage on a large screen showing each step up close.

Louise will then take all the pieces back to her Blended Monkey studios in Upwell where, once dry, she will glaze them in colours of your choice and fire them. The pieces will be returned to the Arts Centre for collection.

Louise also offers 1-2-1 & pairs half- or full-day beginners pottery & throwing workshops in her Blended Monkey ceramics studio in Upwell.
